My Brother’s Tattoo Of A Spartan Helmet

There are all kinds of mythical tattoos that one can get. You’ll see medieval shields, weapons, helmets, and even armors emblazoned on the bodies of many people. My brother Dave recently decided to get a tattoo of a Spartan helmet placed onto his chest. This tattoo has special significance to him and I because are ancestors lived in Sparta.

Dave has been a huge fan of the spartan movies and has seen the movie “300” almost that many times. The helmet is most easily recognized as a Spartan warrior’s head gear so we figured it would be the best thing to tattoo on him. Eventually he’ll get a Spartan shield on his left arm and a Spartan spear on his right arm. Dave may even the word Spartan tattooed onto his stomach. The tattoo will loop up and then back down in a wide arc so that it looks more dramatic.

Frank Miller’s 300: Spartan Helmet Replica

When we first brought Dave to our local tattoo parlor and asked the tattoo artist to place a Spartan helmet on his chest he said he couldn’t do it. The artist said he would like to try, but he did not really have a good idea of what a Spartan helmet looked like. Dave and I said that we would try to get him a picture of the helmet and come back. We found a great looking Spartan replica helmet at a web site called armor venue and decided to just go ahead and buy it. The helmet was absolutely beautiful and ended up costing us less than one hundred dollars. After using our Discover card to pay for it, we only had to wait a short time before receiving it.

After receiving the Spartan helmet we loaded it up in the car with us and drove back down to the tattoo artist. After showing the tattoo artist the helmet, he let us know that he was anxious to undertake the order. He had a great sketch ready for us in a few short minutes. After thinking it over Dave asked for a temporary helmet tattoo to be placed onto him so that he could decide if it looked good on his chest. We figured we’d look at it for about a six or seven days and if it still looked good we’d come back and get the real thing placed on him.

In the end, Dave got a great looking tattoo. The spartan helmet tattoo is now permanently placed on his left pectoral muscle. The compliments he has gotten on his tattoo have been great, even his girl friend likes it. The fact that even she finally approved of the tattoo made it even more special.
